Gue baru aja selesai baca buku ini: The Alchemist. Sebenernya ini bukan buku baru sih, terbitan aslinya, O Alquimista, diterbitin tahun 1988 dalam bahasa Spanyol. Sampai sekarang udah dicetak dalam banyak bahasa dan jadi international bestseller. Berhubung banyak yang rekomen kalau buku ini bagus dan lagi bingung juga mau baca buku apa, akhirnya gue beli bukunya. hehehe
Ceritanya sendiri tentang seorang anak gembala bernama Santiago. Ia memiliki hasrat untuk berpetualang dan ingin melihat dunia, walaupun sebenarnya orang tuanya ingin ia menjadi seorang pastor. Karena ia tidak memiliki banyak uang, dan hanya gembala yang dapat pergi berkelana, maka ia memutuskan untuk membeli domba-domba dan menjadi gembala. Suatu ketika ia mendapatkan mimpi berulang tentang adanya harta karun di piramida mesir. Dalam perjalanan, ia bertemu seorang perempuan gypsi yang dapat menafsirkan mimpi. Lalu ia bertemu dengan Melkisedek, pria yang mengaku sebagai Raja Salem. Ia menjelaskan kepada Santiago bahwa kita harus dapat membaca pertanda-pertanda yang ditunjukkan-Nya, dan mimpi berulang itu adalah pertanda bagi si anak. Akhirnya si anak memutuskan untuk mengejar mimpinya, pergi ke mesir, ke piramida mencari harta karun.
Apa yang menarik adalah bagaimana perjalanan si anak dalam mewujudkan mimpinya itu. Dan itu adalah inti dari buku ini. Bahwa manusia sudah memiliki takdir yang ditujukan baginya saat manusia diciptakan. Kita hanya perlu menemukan takdir tersebut. Dan saat kita sangat menginginkan sesuatu, seisi dunia ini akan bersatu padu membantu kita meraihnya.
Akhirnya? agak gubrak sih sebenernya hahahaha. Intinya adalah kadang kita tidak sadar bahwa hal terbesar yang kita cari selama ini ada dekat dengan kita :p
Banyak tulisan di buku ini yang bagus banget dan sangat insipiring. Sampe rasanya pengen ambil stabilo buat ngegarisin hahaha. Ini beberapa diantaranya:

The
closer he got the realization of his dream, the more difficult things
became. It seemed as if what the old king had called, “beginner’s luck”
were no longer functioning. In his pursuit of the dream, he was being
constantly subjected to tests of his persistence and courage. So he
could not be hasty, nor impatient. If he pushed forward impulsively, he
would fail to see the signs and omens left by God along his path.
The
secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you
can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes
later will also be better. Forget about the future, and live each day
according to the teachings, confident that God loves his children. Each
day, in itself, brings with it an eternity.
